The brief
What Happens to a Tidy Install Over a Few Years
This is the most common version of this job, and it is nobody’s fault. The original installation was clean. Then a PlayStation arrived, then a Rogers box, then something else — and each one came with a cable that had to get from the device to the TV somehow. None of those cables were in the original plan, so they ended up on the outside of the wall, and the wall slowly stopped looking finished.
The customer called us back to fix it. Rather than add another surface cover, we re-planned the whole run for the equipment that is actually there now, dropped it inside the wall, and finished both ends with plates — which is what the before-and-after photos below show.

A standard TV power cord is not rated to sit inside a wall — we fit an in-wall-rated kit or run a paintable raceway. We do not bury a cord and hope.
