What Size AV Back Box Do I Need?

An experienced installer knows that choosing the right AV back box is essential for a proper installation. But with so many different sizes and styles on the market, it can be hard to know which one is right for your project. Here are some tips to help you choose the right AV back box for your next installation.

For 32″ frame TVs, we recommend using a 9×14 inch AV back box with the Mini One Connect Box. This small box can be installed horizontally towards the bottom of the TV.

For 50″ and 43″ frame TVs, we recommend using a 9×14 inch AV back box with slight modification. These boxes are smaller and easier to hide behind the TV.

And for 55″ and larger frame TVs, we recommend using a 17×14 inch AV back box. These boxes are easy to install and provide plenty of space for your Slim Fit wall mount.

How Do We Do It

AV Back Box Installation

First, we need to find the studs in your wall where you want to mount your Frame TV. We can do this by using a stud finder.
We will find the studs in the wall and then use a width x height outline to mark where the AV Back Box should go. TheBack Box should be between 2 studs and completely hidden from view by the TV once it is mounted on the wall.
We will cut and remove the drywall along the lines we’ve drawn. It should be exactly (w x h) the dimension of the AV Back Box.
After we recessed the AV Back Box into the wall, we will cut it open and install a Power Outlet inside.

5. The One Connect Box needs to be plugged into an outlet inside the AV Back Box.

6. Install the wall bracket for your Frame TV so that it is partially overlapping / covering the AV Back Box if necessary. We place the One Connect Box into the AV Back Box and plug in the One Connect Cable and power cord to their corresponding source.
