One visit, start to finish. We work 9:00am to 8:00pm and can usually be with you the next day.

First, we read the wall
Before a drill comes out, the installer checks what’s actually behind the surface — plaster and lath in an older Oshawa house, or plain drywall in a newer one — and settles the height with you standing in the room, not guessed from the doorway.

What moves the number is the size of the screen, what the wall is made of, and where the TV needs to sit. Marble, stone, under-cabinet and above-fireplace jobs take longer and need different anchors, so we quote those directly.

Oshawa Depends Which End You’re In
Around O’Neill, Lakeview and the central streets the houses have some age on them. Up near Windfields and the university it’s new build. That’s not a complaint either way — it’s two different jobs, and it’s why we ask where you are and what the wall is before we quote rather than after we arrive. The gap between those two ends of the city is bigger than the drive between them suggests.

Plaster does not read like drywall
On an older Oshawa house the wall is often plaster over lath, and a stud finder run across it will give you a confident answer that’s wrong. Oshawa’s apartment stock leans to walk-ups rather than concrete towers. That’s closer to a house wall than a shear wall, and it has usually been altered more than once, so we look at what’s behind the finish before picking hardware. Older housing stock

Newer builds and finished basements
The newer areas are mostly drywall over wood framing, which is the most forgiving surface there is. Cable runs inside the wall and nothing shows below the screen.
Basements are the exception worth checking. A finished basement wall can be concrete or block, or a framed wall standing in front of one, and the anchors differ completely between the two. Where the subdivision is recent enough, engineered lumber and the occasional steel stud show up too, which changes the fastener even though the wall still reads as ordinary drywall.

Rentals, apartments and commercial rooms
Apartment and rental walls are frequently concrete or block. Concrete is the most secure thing you can mount to, but cable can't be buried in it, so a slim painted channel handles the run instead.
If you're renting, it's worth agreeing with the owner up front about patching at move-out. For commercial rooms we mount screens high and clear, factor in whether the screen needs to clear a counter or shelving first, and handle SmartBoard installation for training and meeting spaces.
