A local page for a place with more than one kind of wall

The Wall Matters More Than the Postal Code

A TV mounting job in downtown Port Perry can mean plaster, brick and old framing. Ten minutes out of town it can mean a renovated shoreline property, a newer subdivision wall or a rural house that has been altered a few times. They all fall under Scugog. They do not all take the same anchor.

That is why we quote from the actual room rather than a city-name price list. Send the TV make and model, its size, a straight-on photo of the wall and your Scugog address. We will confirm the likely bracket, cable route and price before the appointment. If the photo leaves a question, we settle it on site before making a hole. Drywall is forgiving. Old plaster is less enthusiastic about second attempts.

A closer look at the planning sequence: identify the wall, locate structure, agree on height, then drill.

Before the Drill Comes Out

Paint tells you almost nothing. Panelling may cover studs, plaster may sit over wood lath, and a stone face may be backed by masonry or by framing. We check what will actually carry the TV and choose the fixing for that structure.

We also set the viewing height from where you sit. That is especially important over a fireplace, where the mantel already pushes the screen upward. The right bracket in the wrong position is still the wrong installation.

If your wall is the awkward one, have a look at our dedicated guides to mounting on plaster and mounting on concrete or masonry.

Port Perry, shoreline and rural Scugog

Three Scugog Settings, Three Installation Questions

  • Older Port Perry interiors

Port Perry has an established town core and a protected downtown heritage district. Inside older houses, the practical issue is often plaster, brick or framing that does not follow modern spacing. We verify the structure and keep exploratory holes to a minimum.

Heritage status concerns exterior changes; an ordinary interior TV installation is a different matter. If your plan affects a protected exterior wall or creates an exterior penetration, check with the Township before work begins.

  • Shoreline and renovated properties

Scugog planning documents distinguish shoreline residential areas from Port Perry and the rural township. In practice, renovations are what make these walls interesting: added insulation, panelling, horizontal blocking and old openings can interrupt an otherwise simple cable drop.

We confirm whether in-wall concealment is sensible. If it is not, a neat surface route beats cutting open a finished wall to prove a point.

  • Rural houses and detached rooms

Outside town, construction varies more from building to building. A finished room over a garage, converted outbuilding or addition may use different framing from the main house. We treat each mounting surface as its own job.

Send the address with the quote request. Rural travel, large-screen handling and whether a second installer is needed are confirmed before the slot is booked.

TV installation and the useful add-ons

TV Mounting Services Available in Scugog

This page stays focused on the work that belongs around a television. No kitchen taps, no fence repairs, no mysterious list of 47 handyman services.

  • TV Wall Mounting

Fixed, tilting and full-motion brackets installed into verified structure, with the screen level, connected and tested.

  • Invisible Wire Concealment

Low-voltage cables routed inside a suitable framed wall, or contained in a slim paintable raceway when the wall does not offer a safe internal route.

  • Above-Fireplace Installation

Structure, surface, heat, mantel clearance and viewing height checked together. Brick, stone veneer and framed feature walls are quoted from photos first.

  • Samsung Frame TV Installation

Slim Fit bracket placement, screen alignment and a One Connect plan worked out before drilling. Flush-looking only works when the wall and cable route cooperate.

  • Soundbar Mounting

Wall-mounted or attached to a compatible TV bracket, centred on the screen and included in the same cable plan.

  • Large and OLED TVs

Larger screens and thin OLED panels need careful handling as well as the right bracket. Tell us the exact model so we can confirm lifting requirements and mounting-hole position.

How Your Scugog Appointment Runs

One visit where possible, with the uncertain parts handled before they become expensive parts.

  • Send the room

TV model, screen size, wall photo, preferred position, extras and address. We use those details to quote and bring the right bracket and cable plan.

  • Check the structure

On site, we verify the wall, bracket position, viewing height and cable route with you. Nothing gets drilled because a scanner beeped once.

  • Mount, connect and test

The bracket is anchored, TV and soundbar are aligned, agreed cables are managed, devices are checked and the work area is cleaned before we leave.

TV Mounting Prices in Scugog

Here’s what the jobs we get asked about most start at. Every number below is a starting point — we’ll confirm your exact price once we’ve seen the TV and the wall.

What moves the number is the size of the screen, what the wall is made of, and where the TV needs to sit. Marble, stone, under-cabinet and above-fireplace jobs take longer and need different anchors, so we quote those directly.

Send a photo of the TV, the wall and where you want it, and we’ll quote the whole job before we arrive.

A Fireplace Install Is Four Decisions, Not One

First comes the structure: solid brick, solid stone, veneer or framing. Then heat and mantel clearance. Then the height from your normal seat. Finally, the cable route for the TV, soundbar and any media box.

Those decisions affect one another. A deep mantel can force the TV higher. A full-motion bracket adds leverage. Stone may rule out an internal cable path. A Frame TV adds the One Connect Box to the plan. We work through the whole assembly before centring anything.

The result should look simple because the planning was not. See more detail on soundbar alignment and mounting or browse our installation gallery.

Questions we get asked

Port Perry and Scugog TV Mounting Questions

How much does TV mounting cost in Port Perry and Scugog?

A fixed or tilting mount on regular drywall starts at $179.99 for a TV up to 65 inches, and a full-motion installation starts at $189.99. Wire concealment starts at $79.99. The bracket, cables and any wall-specific work are priced separately. Send the TV model and a clear photo of the wall and we can usually quote the job before the visit.

Can you mount a TV on plaster in an older Port Perry home?

Yes. Plaster is a finish, not the structure holding the screen, so we locate the framing or masonry behind it and keep the number of test holes to a minimum. A stud finder alone can give a messy reading on plaster and lath, which is why the wall gets checked rather than guessed.

Can TV wires be hidden in a shoreline or converted cottage wall?

Sometimes. If the wall has a clear wood-framed cavity, low-voltage cables can usually run inside it. Added insulation, horizontal blocking, masonry or layers of old panelling can close that route. When an internal drop is not sensible, a slim paintable surface channel gives a clean finish without opening half the wall.

Do you mount TVs above brick or stone fireplaces?

Yes, after checking the surface, backing, mantel depth, heat and final viewing height. Solid masonry and stone veneer over framing are different jobs, even when they look similar from the sofa. We settle the fixing method and cable route before drilling, and we will tell you if the proposed height is going to be uncomfortable.

Do you install Samsung Frame TVs and hide the One Connect cable?

Yes. We install the Slim Fit mount, place the screen carefully and plan the One Connect Box before the bracket goes up. Depending on the wall and the cable supplied with your model, that may mean a suitable recessed box, an approved in-wall route or a discreet surface route.

Can you mount a soundbar during the same appointment?

Yes. We can mount it directly to the wall or use compatible brackets that move with the TV. We confirm the TV and soundbar models first, then align the bar with the screen and include its cables in the same concealment plan.

Do you travel outside Port Perry to rural Scugog properties?

Yes. The Scugog service area includes Port Perry and surrounding shoreline, hamlet and rural properties. Tell us the address when you request the quote so travel and appointment timing are confirmed before you book.

Are Scugog TV installations insured and warrantied?

Yes. GTA TV Wall Mounting carries $2,000,000 in commercial liability insurance, and every installation is backed by a one-year material and workmanship warranty. An insurance certificate is available on request.
